Attendance Thaddeas Day, Rob Taisey, Leslie Taisey, Michael Babin, Janice Selig, Marilyn Matthews, Margie Hansel, Andrew Walsh, Darla Hamlin, Meeting called to order: Thad introduced NYBA officers to Darla Hamlin, speaker.
Presentation Darla Hamlin, owner of SoftTrac LLC, is the newest NYBA member!  Darla founded SoftTrac eleven years ago in it’s original space at the village center next to Stone’s Cafe.  After four years she moved the operations to the Route One Yarmouth corridor, but a fire quickly caused them to reclocate to Route One Falmouth.  SoftTrac LLC is a consulting firm for non profit organizations.  Their mission is to build a better community through helping others.  They sell, design, train and do needs assessments for many non profits that do fundraising, and must meet reporting requirements over many fiscal periods.  Darla’s background in construction cost accounting led her to this business, which she has learned from the ground up.  They have clients in seventeen states.  While Maine has many smaller non profits wtih annual budgets of less than $500,000., SoftTrac’s clients include large firms like PROP, and many Aging Agencies who handle annual budgets of $20 million or more. The software products SoftTrac sells and administers are unique applications that allow non profit organizations to meet strict reporting of data, and manage online fundraising and donation functions.Darla expanded her presentation to demonstrate the necessity of preparedness for disaster recovery.  Her business suffered a fire loss shortly after locating in Falmouth.  Darla gave us a list of “Ten ways to survive a disaster”,  including basic steps like maintaining an immediate contact list, to the importance of offsite data storage and backup.  Automation can play a huge roll, and offsite storage of data allows you to recreate and access file information to continue operations.
Discussion Margie Hansel suggested we review the agenda format, conducting business meeting first and then doing speaker presentations.  We will address that and perhaps vote on it at the February mtg.Andrew Walsh resigned the position of Treasurer, and Leslie Taisey was nominated to assume those duties, and was unanimously voted as Treasurer.  Andy turned the member list, checkbook and backup accounting records over to Leslie.  Expressions of appreciation went to Leslie for assuming these duties.  A note was made that the mailing address for NYBA should now be changed so Leslie receives dues payments, etc.Thad Day renewed our filings with the State and will bill NYBA for recovery of those fees.

A vote was held to approve the change to Bylaws allowing members to now live in No Yarmouth but whose business locations are outside the Town.

Marilyn Matthews and Susan Copp of Averill Ins. Agency are now administering NYBA website.  No new inquiries received since training and transfer took place on December 8th.

Rob Taisey attended a conference on solar energy grants, which when combined with tax credits can make it very cost effective to install solar energy systems in residences.  Rob will further present that information at the March 2012 meeting.

Janice Selig reminded members that we should be sure to add a link to OUR websites linking to NYBA!

Reports Andy Walsh reported balance in our account is at $1098.57. Marilyn Matthews will be the speaker at the next meeting. Marilyn will confirm any members that are no longer current on dues and email them that they’ll be removed from list of members if no response by 1/31/12.

Meeting adjourned at 8:16 AM — Next meeting will be held February 9, 2012

Respectfully Submitted: Marilyn Matthews, Secretary
