President Darla Hamline called meeting to order 5:45 pm
Acceptance of minutes from January 18, 2018 motioned and seconded, Minutes accepted.
Thaddeus Day presented “charter” member Brian Bartlett of Edward Jones Investments, Yarmouth, Maine. Brian has been with Edward Jones seven years and has been affiliated with NYBA for just about that long. Several NYBA members have turned to him for investment and retirement planning. Brian’s presentation focused solely on retirement planning in this session and provided several important points to consider when setting up an investment plan to fund retirement.
Old Business:
Motion made and seconded to accept the January 18, 2018 minutes, approved.
Darla is acting as interim Treasurer pending nomination of new officers for 2018 – 2019 term, and Bill Shardlow has expressed an interest in that position.
Darla asked that everyone PLEASE check their online listing at the website, and advise Darla or Marilyn of any corrections needed !!!! There is also an online “suggestion” page being worked on to allow members to make recommendations for future topics and speakers.
Tradeshow will be on Thurs. 4/26/18 from 5 – 7 PM, setup begins 3 pm, anyone signed up to participate who does not have their table setup by 4:30 – the table will be removed and slight reconfiguration done in floor layout. It was decided we should pick ONE doorprize of more value for the event, like an IPAD, and all contribute to that, rather than having too many which was confusing. Early signup table fee is $50 member / $75 non member through 4/10/18, at which point it will be $75 member / $100 non member to the cut off date of 4/19/18. $35 for non profits, flat. Free to town committees. Five sponsors have been obtained for the event.
Thaddeus advised the nominating committee met, and will present slate of officers at May annual meeting for approval. Note, pre meeting notice must go out thirty days prior to annual meeting.
New Business:
Member emails will remain private by group consensus.
Our May 17th annual meeting at Toddy Brook will be in the back room rather than the large dining area due to a conflict on their schedule.
Member news:
Scott Kerr has worked with members lately selling various parcels of real estate in North Yarmouth, and announced interest in the large parcel of the Smith land due to a possible zoning change to allow for greater development.
Thaddeus Day turned FIFTY years old today and we will celebrate his milestone occasion at Toddy Brook on Saturday evening, and Holly Day noted the fact that she now does business with three of the NYBA members noting exactly what this organization is trying to achieve.
Brian advised us of his trip to Switzerland !!
Several members are serving on Town Committees! Kevin Desmond is on the School Board, Darla serves on the Westcustogo Building Committee, and Scott Kerr is on the Town Board for Assessment Review !! Thanks for your additional service to the Town !!
