Darla P Hamlin called meeting to order at 6:00 pm with a round of introductions.
William E Whitten stopped in as candidate for North Yarmouth Selectman Board position. Three year term, replacing slot held by Jeanne Chadbourne. Motion to allow Bill to present … resume / background page distributed. Experience in lobbying State and Federal Legislatures. His goal is to work toward unifying parties for common good. He noted the he has exhibited great determination in getting bills passed. Also past experience with Spectrum Corp in bringing interest, shows, events to Maine local venues. He feels strongly groups like NYBA should meet regularly with Select Board.
Dinner followed by business items at 6:40.
Darla noted our membership is indeed growing, and shared the progress made this past year ie: our second successful Santa’s Helper event, migration of our accounting system to a hosted site online at no cost to us, significant speakers at our meetings, she expect our fifth Trade Show will produce a small profit and produced a new member. She noted we will be losing one of our original members, A+ Doors, due to retirement. We hope to honor Dale Burnell at one of our meetings prior to the end of the year.
Nomination and Election of Officers, Darla Hamlin President, Marilyn Matthews Secretary, Lisa Stoddard Treasurer, motioned and approved. Marilyn Matthews will ask Mark Gauger about interest in serving as VP. That vote tabled pending response.
Darla asked again that you please check your information on the website for accuracy, and noted you should link your website not only to the Town, but to the NYBA website as well. We would like input from ALL members on what they would like to see for speaker topics, and the page on the website is being developed that suggestions can be sent there. A suggestion was made by Rob Taisey on business cards for NYBA, that we can all hand out to others to inspire interest and membership.
Darla announced that summer meetings will be social only, no regular business meeting business or speakers. These may be titled Happy NYBA Hour, and can include invitees / spouses. Darla will ask Toddy Brook about happy hour prices for snacks and beverages.
Our next meeting will be June 21st at Toddy Brook Golf Club. 5:30 PM
Respectfully submitted
